2. Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones
Sony’s WH1000XM5 headphones offer minor improvements to the top-of-the-line over-ears that were launched in 2017. The new headphones are minimalistic, featuring slim and sleek headband, earcups with circular designs and a polished metal finish. They are light and comfortable enough to wear for many hours.
The new model comes with the same outstanding noise cancellation, but comes with four beamforming microphones for hands-free calling. Location awareness is a notable improvement, as it adjusts the ambient sound control settings depending on the location you’re in. If you’re sitting at home they may switch to a subtler noise cancelling level compared to when you are on the train. They can also bring in more exterior audio to help you stay conscious of your surroundings during a walk around town.
Another addition is multipoint, which allows you to connect your headphones to two devices simultaneously. This is an excellent option if you would like to listen to music on your laptop and take calls simultaneously. Multipoint isn’t turned on in the default settings however it’s simple enough to enable through the headphones wireless beats Connect app’s System tab. There’s a drawback to this however: when you turn on multipoint, you’ll lose ability to use the high-quality Bluetooth codec LDAC.
As with the previous WH-1000XM4s the Sony WH-1000XM5’s touchscreen controls let you control music playback as well as make calls from your phone. Swipe forward and backwards on the touchpad to skip tracks or back and back to pause and resume playback. The volume and power buttons are located on the right earcup.
If you have an iPhone and an iPhone, you can personalize the headphones using Siri commands, and gain access to additional features such as personal assistants, sleep timer and battery meter. Sony is also offering voice prompts to help you through the headphones’ functions but I did find that they might be too tense for certain users.
The WH-1000XM5s’ battery lifespan of 30 hours with noise cancelling on is similar to the previous generation, while 40 hours with it off is less than what competitors are offering. The headphones also come with soft carrying cases that shields them from scratches, dust, impact, and slight water damage.

They can rotate 360 degrees and Headphones accommodate a variety of ears for an earphone that is comfortable and secure. They also connect to one another with the security of a locking snap.
The Aonic 3s includes a wired communication cable 3.5mm and a carrying bag. The cable comes with an adjustable remote control for playback and volume, and a microphone that can make hands-free calls. Also included is a fit kit with various sizes and sleeves to tailor your Aonic 3’s to provide the best listening experience. This kit includes black foam sleeves and gray soft flex sleeves that come in a range of sizes, from small to large.

The Sony WF C500 Wireless Earbuds offer a great alternative for those who want to experience wireless headphones but don’t wish to spend much money. They come with a compact charging case and great audio quality. They also sport sleek design, which makes it easy to connect them to smartphones. However, they are missing certain features that are essential for a wireless pair of earbuds, such as active noise-canceling and transparent mode.
The earbuds are made from matte plastic. They have a somewhat bulky appearance that funnels downwards to drivers topped with silicone tips. The earbuds are also IPX4 rated for water resistance, which makes them suitable for use when cycling or running. They’re not as portable as some other alternatives on our list but they’re still compact enough to fit in a shirt pocket and are comfortable to wear for long-term wear.
The Sony Headphones Connect App, which is compatible with aptX/AAC, allows you to control the headphones. Although they don’t have an active noise-canceling feature, the earbuds are able to block out some ambient noises thanks to a sturdy in-ear seal.
The earbuds can deliver up to 20 hours of playtime, which is decent for true wireless earbuds. The earbuds are rechargeable in just four hours from empty and are compatible with Sony Fast Fuel charging technology. They are also lightweight and comfortable, making them comfortable for long sessions and the charging case is compact enough to easily slip in the pocket of a coat.
